Water Treatment Systems: How Improved Water Quality Can Benefit You

How much of the human body is composed of water? You’ve probably heard varying percentages, and that’s because it does vary. An infant is about 78% water! This percentage decreases gradually as they grow up, with adults being between 45% and 65% water. It’s still a lot! That’s why drinking plenty of water is critical to your health.

Unfortunately, many people don’t drink enough water, and that’s often because they don’t enjoy the water that comes out of their home faucets. What does your water taste like? How does it smell? Is it discolored, or does it leave residue behind? Improved water quality, through a water treatment system, can have a huge impact on your water-drinking habits, your health, and much more!

What’s in Your Water?

Perhaps you can picture a diagram of H2O, a large oxygen molecule with two smaller “mouse ears” hydrogen molecules attached, looking rather like a theme park balloon. But hydrogen and oxygen are not the only things coming out of your kitchen sink! Many other things get carried along with that water.

First, there are chemicals used in treating the water. These are used to ensure your safety, so that your water won’t contain bacteria, amoebas, or other alarming microorganisms. It’s good that these chemicals are there! But you might not be delighted with the way they make your water taste.

Also, many homes have what’s known as hard water. Because good old H2O is such an effective solvent, it dissolves and carries with it all kinds of minerals. Hard water is water that has a higher-than-usual mineral content. It’s not dangerous — it’s generally calcium, magnesium, and iron — but it does have an impact on the color, texture, and flavor of your water, as well as making it harder for soap to dissolve.

Should You Be Concerned About Your Water?

There are many reasons to decide that your water quality is not up to your standards. If you’re less interested in drinking it, if it affects your sensitive skin, if it dries out your hair, if it leaves a chalky substance behind, or if you don’t think all the soap is washing out when you run your washing machine or dishwasher, you deserve an improvement in your water. But how?

How Can Water Quality Be Improved?

Water softening systems are recommended for hard water. After all, if you can see residue on your shower head, imagine what the inside of your pipes or your water heater look like! These systems use another mineral to attract the calcium, magnesium, and iron as your water enters your home, trapping it before it flows to your fixtures.

Other water conditioners can address other concerns, such as the chemical flavor of chlorine or other water treatment agents. Are you ready to discuss your water quality in Lewes, DE and find out what we can do to help? We would love to hear from you.
